Our Visual Play Guide
For children who experience anxiety in new environments, predictability is key. Below is our visual guide (social story) designed to be read together before arriving at the playroom.
Getting Ready at Home
We put on soft, comfortable clothes and check that we have our grip socks. We can look at photos of the playroom so we know what it looks like.
Arriving and Checking In
We enter the building. We say hello to the friendly staff at the front desk. The guides can offer us noise-canceling headphones if we want them.
Entering the Play Space
We take off our shoes and put them on the shoe racks. The floors are warm and soft. The lights are dim, and we can hear soft music playing.
Playing and Regulatory Breaks
We can play with sensory panels, crawl in soft play, or sit in the low-light room. If we need a quiet rest, we can sit in the cozy Quiet Corner.
